The architectural event "Material Matters Vol. 5: Color", organized by ek magazine under the auspices of the Hellenic Institute of Architecture, was completed with great success on May 27 at the Benaki Museum atrium on Piraeus Street. In the packed atrium, speakers from the field of architecture and design developed the importance of color in architectural design, through thematic presentations that highlighted different aspects of this fascinating element. On the occasion of MilanDesignWeek 2024 Cleaf presented Living Small, a concept that explores small buildings. Projects in which the spatial limit represents an opportunity for experimentation and a reflection on modularity. The innovative industrial process of design and fabrication stages, along with extensive interior customization, make small buildings an ideal context for Cleaf surfaces. At the Salone del Mobile.Milano an house with a rhomboid base and sloping roof, designed by Bestetti Associati and set in a lunar landscape, showcased potential applications. Collaboration with the Spanish studio Inzink Design has led to the creation of four buildings, placed within the corporate showroom CCube. An exhibition to discover the four material effects: wood, metal, stone, fabric. To mark the occasion, two new textures have been unveiled: SBALZO A geometric pattern inspired by artistic woodworking characterizes the Sbalzo texture. At the Interzum fair in Cologne, the biennial appointment dedicated to the subcontracting of the furniture industry, Cleaf presented its collection of innovative surfaces for furniture and interiors through a spectacular installation by Bestetti Associati. The products were divided into four material effects – fabric, metal, stone, wood – and positioned inside oversized metal displays with an elliptical shape. The Like a bar hospitality area welcomed customers and architects, offering a memorable hospitality and socialization experience. A recall to the project presented during the Milan Design Week, and ongoing in the company’s corporate showroom in Lissone, which aims to emphasize the power of surfaces in defining furniture and environments without changing their shapes. For the occasion two new textures were highlighted: TRACCIA A series of positive and negative lines with a constant pitch identify Traccia texture. The contrast between the microstructure of the raised parts and the smooth surface of the depressions creates different levels of opacity, enhancing its technical aspect.
